Water water everywhere, and not an ounce to drink!

Sweet on the right, raw on the left.

We have strange water here. We have "sweet water", which is what we drink. We have a faucet in the kitchen for this, and the fridge (and supposedly the dishwasher) is hooked up to the sweet water. Then there is "raw water". Which really, I think they should rename. I mean, don't you think of raw sewage? Woof.

There is no water here. I mean really. None. Just the ocean. So that's what we drink. Sweet has been desalinized and cleaned, and really, tastes just fine. Raw has had a little bit done to it. They say it's "safe" to drink, but really, how safe? It smells. I mean wreaks. When you turn the tub on, it stinks. And if you leave the toilet seat up, the bathroom smells. (not like that...) It does smell like icky pipes or something. I'm not really sure. We do brush our teeth with it, although -NO SWALLOWING! Ew. And Chach regularly tries to drink it in the tub, which I quickly but to a stop. Sometimes it's brown and you have to let it run for a while to get clear. This probably sounds worse than it is. It's just something you deal with.

When you wash dishes by hand, like pots and what not. You have to wash in the raw, because it's hot. Then rinse in the sweet because it's clean. Pain in the rear. Most people here have water dispensers. We brought a fridge from home, and it's hooked up to sweet, and has another filter. So we drink that. But, we may come home with three eyes someday. You never know.

It's really hard on clothes. I'm not sure why, maybe the salt content. And it feels gross in the shower. It makes some people lose their hair, so I am only washing my hair twice a week if I can help it. Often this mean, planning around going swimming, so I can wash after the pool. When I shower I never linger. Get in. Get out. Who knows what's in the water. There are refineries everywhere along these waters. I try not to think about it. I have to be able to sleep somehow. And honestly, in this neck of the woods, I have A LOT more to worry about than where the water is coming from.
