Who's on the Phone

This morning the phone rang, and I was on the U.S. phone.

'Tell them I'll call them back." I had no idea who even answered the phone, but I know Ruby is a big fan of that right now.

Later.

"Who was on the phone?" I ask

"I don't know." Says Roo. "She sounded like a Texas lady."

The big boys, "Was it Mrs. Boggan? Or Mrs. Albritten?"

"No. I don't know. Are they from Texas?"

Me, "Did they sound English?" (Chris)

Roo, "No. Like Texas. Not England."

Me, "It wasn't German? Or was it a little Indian?" (Sylvia or Raheema)

Roo, "No. I don't think so. I said, mom, they sounded like they were from Texas!"

I never did figure it out. But after the fact I laughed at our funny little camp. How we know so many people from so many different parts of the world. And that my kids are beginning to recognize different accents from around the globe. They can tell Australia from England, Scotland and South Africa - it's amazing.

What a crazy place we live in.

Were you on the American phone with me? How funny that your kids know so many accents!
