Day Two. Out the door by 7, and into the water by 7:30. Who knew they rented ‘blind’ people snorkel masks? Not me. But this has been wonderful. Peter doesn’t like to swim because he can’t see. But now; He can! And see we did.
I finally got to hold hands with a boy and snorkel. What teenage girl doesn't dream of this? And, he's the man I love and married. I am truly, a lucky girl.
Sea urchins, parrot fish, spiney sea urchins, beautiful coral, lots more, and of course…our first Sea Turtle. He was as majestic as I have been imagining since I was 12. I’ve snorkled in Hawaii, Mexico and the Carribean, and never seen one. But have always wanted to.
And today, I did.
I made sure to ask him how old Sea Turtles get. (so I could tell my kids I did) He just lazily blinked at me. Oh, he was beautiful. Their markings and coloring are astounding.
At a black sand beach, later in the day, we saw three more. They were, of all things, playing in the surf. Tossing and swimming like crazy.
"Mr. Turtle's my dad's name, Dude." (Marlin, from Finding Nemo - if you didn't know)
They’d swim away, then come back for more. And at the beaches along the lava flats, we saw even more. Several more swimming, having a great time.
Yes. Today was wild life day. I’ll post my whale post soon.
Believe me, it’s a good one.
