This week marks the end of the Fall Trimester. I can't believe I have posted so little, almost not at all. But I'm trying to catch up. Here is what has been going on this week with the kids:

Roo had a practice for their Swan Lake show which will be in the Spring.

These are her 'swan arms'. She LOVES to pose. They had a princess dance class, to practice. Of course they all loved it!

At class. She does a swan very well, doesn't she?

One more pose. I let her wear make up and she loved her hair. "Did your mom do your hair like this when you were little, mom?" My response, "Heck no. Anything fancy that happened to my hair was all Minky. You can thank her later..."

Winter Concert for Third Grade. They also played their recorders. They sounded great!

This year the Third Grade does a large focus on life here in this crazy land. Here are some pictures from todays fun day:

They asked each of the kids to wear the standard national clothes, abaya's for the girls, and thobes for the boys. In the winter, most men wear dark thobes with light head dresses. Simon chose this kind. The fabric is a little heavier and a bit warmer.

They had to make a board game about the country. We have had a visitor with us for a month or so, his name is Flat Stanley. He came to Europe with us and I brought him to the party today as his last be horrah before he makes his way back over the ocean.

They made ceramic building facades in art class. His is right behind him. It's awesome. We'll be keeping this for a long time.

They all did a dance. Who knew these people danced? Not me. Well, not boys and girls together anyway. But it was really cute.

Afterward we went for shwarma, but apparently they only sell shwarma after the afternoon prayer. Argh. Thought I'd show you the awesome-ness of the fine establishments around here. Actually, it's on the left and pretty nice for here. The rest of the street is a woofer.

Masalama!
