Birthday Blog: Meet Aimee

Meet Aimee. Aimee is one of my closest friends, and can you believe I don’t even have a picture of her? (Some friend I am! This will tell you that I didn’t grow up with her. But that we have become wonderful friends as adults. I do, however, have pictures of her kids. Does that count?) Aimee was born November 10th, a while ago. But only a bit before me, which does in fact make her older than I am. But not by much.

Funny things about Aimee. For me, the best word to describe her is, “particular.” Not the annoying, you can hardly deal with the person “particular.” In a much different way. Like, she’ll go all over town to find “just the right thing.” Recent Example: She really wanted the Costco mini bottled water for her kids lunches. Our Costco didn’t carry them, so she had her husband stop by a Costco 30 miles from here and pick them up. She isn’t weird about this, and doesn’t impose these things on others. She just likes what she likes. I, in fact, very much admire this about her. Me, I’ll pretty much take anything. Which leaves me with a house full of things I consider, just, “okay.”

She also likes to collect things. Not like a curio cabinet type of collector. Like, when she buys a set of toys for her kids. She gets every single little thing to go with it. She has pretty much every “Little People” item ever made. And the entire Dora House collection. She laughs at herself about this, and I do too. But again, why not get what you want? They’ll last forever, and who likes playing with a just part of the set, when you can have the whole thing?

Aimee is, again, one of the nicest people on the earth. Peter frequently reminds me how lucky I am to have her as a friend. And it’s true, I am very lucky. She’s funny and sweet. The worlds most amazing mother. You have never seen anyone more patient. When I am about the lose it with my kids, she’s the type that picks them up and just loves them that much more. She’s understanding and loving and always has a listening ear for whatever trouble my heart has, and anyone else she knows. Her door is always open. She ALWAYS has a neighbor kid at her house. She feeds them, hugs them, and loves them. She really is an amazing person. I hope someday when I grow up, I can be more like Aimee.

Oh, yeah. AND she’s really thin!! I know, she hates when I bring this up. But sorry, looking really cute in your clothes is an awesome attribute to have!

Happy Birthday Aimee, I love you.

What a wonderful post! She is an amazing person. Tonight I was getting a compliment from my husband about something "cool" I had done for the kids. All I could say was "everything I know about being a cool mom I learned from Aimeee."
