Here is the inside of his room. He writes anything he can in hieroglyphics. (no really, if you were here he'd write your name in it for you) He draws the Egyptian eye EVERYWHERE. I saw on a math paper last week, where you had to check the right box for the answer. He had drawn the eye in stead of a check or an "x". In art class they making paper mache bugs, he is making - what else? - an Egyptian scarab, of course!
Here is his door. Please enjoy the ancient artifacts.
And here is our guy himself, dressed in his "tunic" as he calls it. After school he comes home and immediately puts it on, adds the necklaces, begs for Egyptian face paint and goes to work creating artwork. He also loves the movie Joseph of Egypt. So DID the rest of the family. Si has watched it so many times now that they practically cry when he puts it on. I sort of have to laugh.I love Simon. He is SO creative. People love to be around him. He has so many friends. (and members of his "Egypt Club") He makes me laugh. Would you believe he hates to be in front of people? He won't even bear his testimony. He gets so embarrassed. (remember we have a tiny crowd with only 15 adults) I find this funny, as he LOVES to dress up and pretend. I encourage this behavior. I think it's so creative and fun. So does Peter. We always say, "I wonder what Si is going to grow up and be?" Because he's not just creative, he's incredibly smart and advanced in school as well.
I guess only time will tell.

Hopefully he'll be someone who wears more than a tunic! He is a great kid. Nate still talks about him fondly and is saving his "slot" on Lego Harry Potter for next summer!
Has he read the Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan (the author of the Lightning Thief series)? It's his new series, and if Simon loves egyptian stuff, and loves to read, he will love this book.
So I just remembered it was SAM, not Si, who was here this summer. I really do know your kids, I promise. And I like Si as well, I really do.
