The Com misery

Post Four Hundred and Fifty ONE! Oh yeah, baby.

Who knew I had so much to say? Okay. Most of you, because you all know I am a total jabber jaw.

Anywho.

Yesterday Sherriff said to Peter, in front of me, "Sir. Madam is 100 percent house wife! Very good. Yes. 100 hundred percent house wife!" Peter and I got a good laugh out of that. Because, really, I am a housewife 100% of the time. It just sounded funny. I think he was complimenting me. Hmmm?

Speaking of being a 100% housewife, you should hear my latest big trip to the com misery. That is my new term of endearment for the commissary, com misery. So. I'm really trying to eat healthy, as well as feed the family healthy and what not. And we are a big family, so I try to plan ahead, so as not to make so many trips to the commissary. I ALWAYS spend 300 SAR there and it ticks me off! In for a loaf of bread, out spending 75 bucks on nothing!

At any rate, I did my weekly planning of meals and off I went. Here were the highs and lows of the evening:

Bananas right out of the box! Lucky me. They were hot. Not warm, hot. In other words would be mushy by the morning. Bought them anyway, no choice.

Peanut Butter, PBJ's on the list for lunches this week. (except for Si, of course) Choices? Jif brand only; low fat or with honey or simply jif. NONE of which I want!!! Why can't they just have JIF! Arghhh. Went with the simply jif - totally gross and not worth the calories.

Next: Chicken. Just plain old boneless, skinless chicken breasts. NOT ONE. Nope. None.
Double Arghhhh! (other weird cuts with bones and skins - forget it)

Hot dogs. NONE. Sandwich meat. Nothing but YUCK. Veggie Burgers. OUT.

Frustrating!!!!

How about some good old strawberries? 21.00 SAR, that's 5.25 for 12 berries. I bought them - I was desperate. Pineapple? All green. Pears? The size of peas.

How about some A-1? Just in case I do ever find chicken again. Usually they have just A-1 Spicy or A-1 Fruit (don't ask). But today, my luckiest of days, they had plain old A-1!!! And for only SEVEN DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS! (you read that right, 7.50 USD) I bought a regular bottle of A-1. I know, I'm nuts. But it's nice to have the taste of home every now and then. Even if I did have to sell my youngest to buy it....he is a little monster every now and then. Or most of the time...

Anyway, I won't go on, you get my point. It was a day of disappointments. Well, except for the bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs. Oh, how I love them, but I have refused to by them on dignity alone. They are WAY too expensive. But, they are in stock right now, a pretty big bag - you know, like the size of 2 regular. I held off, but Peter insisted. Do you want to know the price? Get ready to laugh. You're gonna be sick: 12.75 USD. I know. Puke.

On the other hand, I filled up my SUV today for 13.00 USD, so really? Maybe it's evening out.

I think you still may end up ahead. It's 120 to fill up my van right now. I feel like I'm going to throw up every time I fill it up. However, I can drive it wherever I want without needing someone to drive me. Which means you win in the "crappy stuff you have to deal with" department! love you!
